Welcome! I’m Derek McClure, a practicing psychotherapist working with adults and adolescents. I provide individual psychotherapy services and guided Focusing sessions.

Every person experiences distress in their life. Sometimes the distress is familiar and known, following the well-worn grooves of established mental and behavioral patterns. Perhaps instilled in us through familial or cultural norms and customs. Sometimes the distress is unfamiliar or new such as the sudden loss of a loved one or job or the confusion and emotional turmoil resulting from the onset of a pandemic.

Within every challenge and every person are the seeds for alleviating their particular distress. Through a reflective, investigative and compassionate process my hope is for you to discover and develop tools that lead to lasting and effective change. This process at times can be challenging as we face difficult truths. Other times it may be easeful as burdens are released and paths become clear.

This relational process of self-discovery and growth moves toward fulfillment and understanding. It is intended to identify personal and systemic conditioned patterns that no longer serve us. Then transform them into healthier more fulfilling behaviors, beliefs, and perceptions. I view therapy as both a deeply spiritual and immensely practical journey.
